I believe that it is important to instil good habits right from the beginning of learning the violin. From my own experience I know that it is very hard to correct bad habits that have been ingrained over a long period of time. Instilling good habits from the beginning reduces the risk of injury and means that you will be able to develop your playing as far as you want to. Having solid foundations will allow you to play in a way which is unhindered by tension and will give you the freedom to explore your own musical ideas.
From my own experience I believe that the best teachers are always developing themselves and finding new ways to help their pupils. As part of my degree at the RWCMD I am taking a teaching course to further my development in the subject. I aim to inspire all my pupils to achieve the best of their abilities and enjoy the process of making music.
